Manage Incident Maps

Use the permanent Topo Map and organize multiple imported GeoPDF Maps within an Incident.

Incidents keep work separate

MCG Maps organizes maps and Markers by Incident. Use separate Incidents to keep unrelated field information from being mixed together.

The permanent Topo Map

Every Incident's Maps screen includes Topo Map. This permanent map uses an online USGS topographic basemap and cannot be reordered with imported Maps.

You can open Topo Map without importing a GeoPDF. Incident Markers and an accepted current location can appear on it.

Add and organize GeoPDF Maps

An Incident can contain multiple supported GeoPDFs, such as an Operations map and one or more Division maps. Imported Maps appear alongside Topo Map.

Give imported Maps recognizable names and reorder them from the Maps screen. One imported Map can be designated Current, making the most relevant map for the present operational period or assignment easy to identify.

Switch Maps without losing Marker context

Select Topo Map or any imported GeoPDF from the Maps screen.

Markers belong to the Incident, not to a particular PDF. They remain geographically valid as you switch Maps. A Marker outside the selected GeoPDF boundary can still appear on the surrounding Topo Map surface.

Share one or more PDFs

Share an individual imported Map when someone needs that original PDF. In map-management mode, select multiple imported Maps to send their PDFs together through the iOS share workflow.

An MCG Map package is a separate single-map option that combines one PDF with the Incident's Marker data for another compatible MCG Maps installation. Sharing is deliberate transfer, not synchronization.

Delete imported Maps

Use the map-management controls to remove imported Maps. Deleting a Map is separate from deleting its Incident, and Incident-wide Markers are not bound to that PDF.

If the Current map is deleted, MCG Maps selects another available imported Map when possible rather than leaving an invalid Current-map reference.
