Privacy
Your maps stay yours.
Built for privacy
MCG Maps stores your imported maps, Incidents, Markers, Marker photos, and location data locally on your device. It does not require an account or upload your field data to MCG Maps servers as part of normal app use.
MCG Maps does not include advertising and does not sell your data or use it for tracking.
Location
MCG Maps uses your device's location to show your position on an Incident map. Location information is processed on your device and is not sent to MCG servers as part of normal app use.
Connected map features
The online Topo Map requests basemap tiles or map data from public USGS mapping services. NIFC incident discovery, map product discovery, and a PDF download you explicitly select access public NIFC services.
These connected features communicate with third-party public services to retrieve the map information you request. Those services operate under their own policies. MCG Maps does not use these requests to upload your Incidents, Markers, photos, or other field data to MCG servers.
Maps, Markers, and photos
Maps you import, Markers you create, and photos you attach to Markers are stored locally by MCG Maps on your device.
MCG Maps only exports or shares this information when you choose to use a sharing or export feature. Information you send to another app, service, or person may be subject to the privacy practices of that destination.
No MCG cloud account
MCG Maps does not require an MCG account or MCG cloud service between you and your field data. The app is designed around local, on-device storage, with network access limited to connected features such as online topo and NIFC discovery and download.
